I can admit to having a guilty pleasure, feeling rather fervent of a well photographed fashion editorial or ad campaign. For those who are not privy to the true definition of an editorial and or campaign… Let me be the first to educate all the future fashionistas and fashionistos( You cant call a man; not even a gay man a fashionista!). So for the sake of being politically correct (Fashionisto) in an attempt to utilize proper fashion terminology : A fashion editorial usually consist of 8 to 12 photos that tell a story, and follow a similar color scheme. A fashion ad campaign introduces a specific season usually for a specific brand, and may feature 2 or more different advertisements for a particular line following the same theme. I like pictures. I LOVE pictures that tell a story! In my opinion any one can take a “point and shoot” picture. We are a society filled with minions taking selfies and calling our Instagram photography “ART” with one change of the filter. (I am guilty of that too!) I am no photographer, but I do enjoy and respect any photographer who can engage the audience with a photo that speaks. On my quest to learn and appreciate the art I am dabbling and learning some techniques in photoshop. I decided that I would juxtapose my love for fashion(editorials and such) with recent acquired photoshop skills in a post. Remember I am an artist and I’m sensitive about my ish. My intention is not to take away from the natural state, or beauty of the photo. My goal is to kill two birds with one stone, showing my appreciation for these ads while sharing my new passion for photoshop. Besides killing birds is pretty messy. I present to you Dior’s Fall 2013 Ad Campaign “The Secret Garden 2″ taken by Inez and Vinoodh, and then of course my playful manipulation .
